Harmony, Population 18

A couple miles south of Cambria lies what's left of the Town of Harmony. It's got a nice little deli restaraunt and a winery, but that's about it.  The town seems to take great pride in its population of 18.  In fact, I suspect each resident has their own "population 18" sign.  I'm almost afraid to drop into Harmony. What if a resident died the day before and they need someone to fill the void?  Am I safe?  Do they allow residents to leave, or worse yet, multiply?  Kind of gives me the creepsI Did a little Google search and it turns out there is a reason Harmony holds "population 18" so near and dear.  Jehry Miller wrote a "hit" song, "Harmonizing in Harmony, Population  18."  Best I can tell, it was written in the late 70's.  That means Harmony has maintained a population if 18 for nearly 40 years, AND it was a big enough deal 40 years ago to have a song written about it!  Hey, don't say I didn't warn ya!

Population 18 since......?
Ran into Vicky and Craig from Los Osos while in Harmony. They were out for a ride on their tandem (not tandum) recumbent.  Both looked in great shape. I suspect they've logged a few miles on their rig.  I managed to sneak out of Harmony before them.  Hopefully, Harmony's population hasn't dropped to 16. Vicky & Craig, post a comment so I know you managed to escape!

On August 14, 2013, I'm flying to Vancouver, British Columbia and beginning a 29-day, 1,880-mile bike ride from Canada to Mexico.

On this page you'll find random ramblings before, during, and after my trek down the Pacific Coast. Prior to BikeTheCoast13, I'll blog about my prep, training, and thoughts from the road.
While visiting my blog, I hope you'll offer comments, suggests, and words of encouragement.  I'm going to need all the help I can get!

For those who don't know me or my inspiration, please take a moment to check out the Why Now? tab to meet my daughter Lindsey and find out how I got here.

If this site helps or inspires you in any way, I hope you'll consider making a small donation to the cause.
